**Triceps (Anatomy)**

The triceps, a prominent muscle in the upper arm, comprises three distinct sections: the medial, lateral, and long heads. Its primary function is the extension of the elbow joint, enabling the straightening of the arm. The triceps acts as the opposing muscle to the biceps.



**Origin**
- Long head: Infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula (Shoulder Blade)
- Lateral head: Above the radial groove of the upper arm (Humerous)
- Medial head: Below the radial groove of the upper arm (Humerous)

**Insertion**
The long, lateral, and medial heads converge to insert into the olecranon process of the ulna.

**Additional Information**
The triceps can be developed through isolated exercises (such as tricep extensions) or compound movements (such as box dips, as illustrated below).
